Your New Caribbean Headquarters

Puerto Rico is home to more than postcard-perfect beaches and vibrant culture. We’re also home to the U.S.’ most fertile and advanced business ecosystem, a tropical paradise tailor-made to foster entrepreneurship and innovation.

Hundreds of the world’s leading companies and visionary entrepreneurs already call us home. Here are a few reasons why you should as well.

No passport? No problem.

U.S. citizens can travel freely between the island and the U.S. mainland.

A Familiar Playing Field

As part of the United States, the ground rules for doing business in Puerto Rico allow for the same level of operational security, stability, and protections, so you can invest with confidence.

  • The U.S. dollar is the official and only currency. This means that there are no exchange controls, capital can be moved freely in and out of the island, and monetary stability is all but guaranteed.
  • U.S. federal law, and all the framework and protections that go with it, apply in Puerto Rico, including intellectual property and patent protection. The Island is home to numerous local and international firms specializing in myriad practices.
  • All U.S. banking regulations apply, including the credibility and protections afforded by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). With dozens of local and international banks on the island, this is among the most robust sectors in the region.
  • Because we’re a U.S. jurisdiction, all manufactured goods can be labeled as Made in the U.S.A., a sign of credibility that inspires trust and confidence among your customers around the world.
"We enjoy an unprecedented level of freedom to conduct business here. Puerto Rico provides a framework you can trust."

Unique incentives for export services, manufacturing, R&D, innovation, and more

As a U.S. jurisdiction, Puerto Rico offers an infrastructure many other islands and countries don’t have, one we are strengthening each day.

  • Most of the island is connected via high-speed broadband internet, undersea fiber optic cable services, and a robust satellite system.
  • Robust landline, wireless, cloud and ethernet services.
  • Nearly two dozen Internet service providers keep costs competitive.
  • More than 24,000 miles of highways and roads.
  • All points on the island can be reached within less than three hours.
  • The San Juan metro area is well connected via public transportation: light rail and buses.

  • Eleven airports, with three providing direct service to international destinations.
  • San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport:
    • The busiest and most important air hub in the Caribbean
    • 8 million passengers per year
    • 4,300 cargo flights per month
    •  1,800 weekly flights offered by more than 20 airlines
    • Daily non-stop flights depart every hour

  • 11 state-of-the-art seaports that literally circle the island, together account for hundreds of thousands of tons of cargo import/export per year.
  • Port of San Juan sets the standard:
    •  Cargo facilities allow for more than 500,000 square feet (46,000 m²) of space for loading and unloading cargo.
    • Provides immediate access to a vast highway system and several major local routes. This means fast and efficient transportation of goods throughout the metro area and the rest of the island.
    • Major carriers include Crowley, Sea Star Line, Maersk, Tote Maritime, and others.
