Last but not least, the recent inauguration of The Mall of San Juan brought the first luxury shopping center to Puerto Rico. The mall was built with an investment of $405 million. It is a two-tiered structure that houses 100 stores within a 640,000-square-foot facility. The prestigious Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue chain stores are the anchors, with 138,000 and 100,000 square feet, respectively. The mall was built in about 27 acres of land, near the San José Lagoon and the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge very close to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. A Crowne Plaza Hotel & Casino adjacent to the Mall is currently under construction.
